Nestled in the embrace of the azure Aegean Sea, Crete’s Heraklion area beckons with its sun-kissed beaches, rich history, and the inviting allure of Blue Bay Resort Hotel.
Let’s embark on a virtual journey to this coastal haven, where the sea views, delectable cuisine, and convenient beach access make for an idyllic and relaxing holiday. And, of course, don’t forget the captivating day trip to Santorini and a glimpse into the ancient wonders of Knossos Palace.
Blue Bay Resort Hotel: Your Coastal Oasis
Imagine waking up to the gentle lull of the waves and stepping onto your balcony at Blue Bay Resort Hotel to witness the sun painting the sky with hues of pink and gold. This seaside retreat offers not only luxurious accommodations but also an incredible panorama of the Aegean Sea – a sight that becomes a cherished part of your daily routine. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
It’s worth to book a room in the main building with sea view (view gallery).
At Blue Bay Resort, the culinary experience is a journey through the flavours of Crete. From traditional Greek delicacies to international cuisine, the hotel’s restaurants offer a diverse menu that caters to every palate. They usually offer evening entertainment as well.
Beach Bliss: Scuba Diving in Crystal Clear Waters
One of the perks of staying at Blue Bay Resort is the convenience of a shuttle to the nearest beach, opening the doors to a world of aquatic adventures. Dive into crystal clear waters perfect for snorkelling or take the opportunity to practice or learn scuba diving. Crete’s underwater landscapes are a treasure trove of marine life, vibrant corals, and underwater caves waiting to be explored.
Santorini Day Trip: A Sunset Odyssey
No visit to Crete is complete without a day trip to the iconic Santorini. Board a ferry and set sail for this Cycladic gem, where whitewashed buildings cling to cliffs, and the deep blue sea stretches endlessly. Explore the narrow streets of Oia, indulge in local delicacies, and witness the mesmerizing sunset – an experience that will etch itself into your memory forever.
Santorini is as beautiful and charming as you see in travel adverts but if you’re not to keen on big crowds, my advice would be to visit in low season. We were there at the end of October and it was still busy.
Funny story: we were taking photos of the sea and all of the sudden I hear a buzz around me and when I turned all cameras were pointing at my partners cap where a butterfly had decided to take a break (see gallery).
As your day trip to Santorini concludes, the ferry ride back to Crete offers a magical spectacle – the sun dipping below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the Aegean Sea.
Knossos Palace: A Glimpse into Ancient Grandeur
Take a step back in time with a visit to Knossos Palace, a Minoan archaeological wonder located just outside Heraklion. Marvel at the intricate frescoes, grand courtyards, and labyrinthine architecture that paint a vivid picture of Crete’s rich history.
Crete is a harmonious blend of coastal delights, locals that welcome you with open harms, historical wonders, and unforgettable day trips.
Come, let Crete’s coastal charms cast their spell on your heart.
